UNI Gaming Greek affiliate OESIK, the Hellenic federation of casino employees' unions, has informed about the decision of two gaming companies - THEROS INTERNATIONAL GAMING INC (Casino Rio) and VIVERE ENTERTAINMENT (Casino Xanthi) - to suddenly dismiss 39 employees.
Employees of these companies organised strikes demanding the immediate reinstatement of their redundant colleagues. Up till now, the management of both casinos failed to respond to the union's demands and to start the dialogue.

Last weekend the employees of Casino Rio organised a 48-hour strike and were peacefully staying in the gaming room and the reception of the casino. Casino Rio remained closed for several hours whilst hundreds of customers supporting the employees stood and protested together with them.
Moreover, Dimitris Karageorgopoulou (the General Secretary of OESIK and the chairman of the Casino Rio Employees' Union) has started a hunger strike outside the entrance of the casino demanding all dismissed colleagues are reinstated.
UNI Gaming Global Union stands together with union and workers at Casino Xanthi and Casino Rio and supports Dimitris in his courageous act.
